On May 22 the Mike Munson Trio released “Sometimes, not always.” on Liatris Records. Two back to back nights of performances were held in Minneapolis and Winona, respectively. Yesterday was warm and sunny in Winona which meant the computer got turned off a bit early, the windows were thrown open and we went outdoors. It is deep winter in Minnesota and in the midst of the relentless cold and the longest nights, we have collectively been thrust into the international spotlight. This season is marked by hibernation of animals, plants, and to a degree, the humans who are bold enough to make a life in a climate that occasionally plunges the thermometer to -26° for days on end. This is typically our quiet time, when we turn inward, reflect, rest and dream. It is a time when ideas simmer, sweaters get made, songs get written.

This Sunday, December 14 we will celebrate the release of Liz Draper’s debut solo album “Meno” at the Ivy Arts Building in Minneapolis! It will be an evening full of creativity in a studio space that has been newly transformed by a collective of artists and musicians and will be open to the public for the first time for this event. It will be wonderful to hear Liz perform live and to spread the word about the ways that Liatris is growing.
